On January 12, 2006 Ministers from Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and the United States launched the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate, at the inaugural Ministerial meeting in Sydney, Australia. Ministers agreed on a Communiqué, Charter, and Work Plan that outline a ground-breaking new model of public-private task forces to address climate change, energy security and air pollution. At the Second Ministerial meeting in New Delhi, India on October 15, 2007, the Partnership welcomed Canada as the seventh member, recognized the eight Action Plans created by each of the Task Forces along with over 100 projects, and recognized eighteen flagship projects exemplifying the scale and potential of the cooperation being undertaken by the Partners.
